Oxigeno Amazonas        Responsible Travel Policy:

At Oxígeno Amazonas, our operation is not a static tourism product; it is a living commitment to the territory we inhabit. We believe in Radical Privacy and Author’s Amazon (Amazonas de Autor), where transparency about our impact is the foundation of the trust we build with our travelers.

1. Wildlife & Animal Welfare: Respect Above the Photo

Wildlife is not a spectacle;

It is our neighbor. We prioritize the integrity of the ecosystem over the "perfect souvenir."

  • Zero Intervention: We strictly prohibit feeding, touching, or domesticating wild animals. Our encounters are always on their terms.
  • Ethical Observation: Following our "No-rush Amazon" philosophy, we take the time to observe animals without pressure. If an animal shows signs of stress, we leave the area immediately, regardless of the tour's schedule.
  • Conservation Support: We actively collaborate with and promote local recovery centers, such as Maikuchiga, ensuring our guests understand the reality of conservation and the threats to local species.

2. Environmental Responsibility & Bioconstruction

Our Base Project: Art and Earth

Our presence in Puerto Nariño is designed to leave a footprint of awareness, not waste.

  • Our Base Project (Art and Earth): We are currently building our operational base: a small-scale boutique lodge designed entirely under bioconstruction principles using mud, clay, and natural fibers. It is a zero-deforestation project. Our goal is to be fully self-sustainable, powered by solar energy and supported by a specialized rainwater harvesting system.
  • Plastic-Free Culture: We are radical about waste. We provide water refill stations at our base and during expeditions to eliminate single-use plastics. We encourage all our travelers to bring reusable bottles to protect our vital water sources.
  • Energy Transition: While we currently rely on fossil fuels for river transport, our mission is clear: transitioning to electric outboard motors. Our medium-term goal is 100% energy autonomy.

3. Economic & Social Responsibility

Real Local Impact

We are not an external agency; we are Karla and Darwis, operating directly from the Amazon.

Direct Local Hiring: 100% of our guiding, transport, and supply services are managed with our neighbors from the Tikuna, Cocama, and Yagua communities.

Fair Wages: We pay rates above the local market average, honoring ancestral

knowledge and service quality, ensuring the benefits of tourism remain within the

community.

Cultural Respect: Our experiences avoid the "folklorization" of indigenous cultures. We promote genuine encounters based on mutual respect and the dignity of original peoples.

4. Commitment to Transparency

Our "No-rush Amazon" philosophy extends to our management. We are radically honest with our travelers: we are in a stage of conscious growth and construction. We prefer the authentic imperfection of a project in development over the polished aesthetic of a soul-less corporate operation.
